To create an exciting and inspirational retail centre in the heart of Negombo, Sri Lanka. This is a collaboration with local architects Kahawita De Silva and Associates, with TVS invited to lead the design of an iconic, landmark building in this growing town in Sri Lanka. The proposal is for an exciting retail space over 7 storeys, connected with a central atrium soaring above the ground floor entry and food court, providing a welcoming destination and respite from the hustle and bustle of the street outside.
The form and texture of the proposal has been drawn from the local fishing industry’s vernacular materials and fishing vessels. The corner of the building billows out as a sail in the breeze to gently entice and welcome shoppers.
